Rugby. Is. Back.

The World Cup was great fun, the weather was beautiful for a while, and we all had a nice relaxing few months. That means only one thing however, it’s time for pre-season.

Already in full swing, we’re running 3 sessions a week over the summer. Monday and Wednesday at 7pm, Saturday at 1pm, all on the Everglades pitch at Stormont Pavilion.

Under the guidance of head coach Laurence Kelly, pre-season focuses on technical skills, while incorporating aerobic and S&C work. It's a fantastic way to boost rugby fitness while doing practical drills. Laurence is a highly experienced coach, both in the club and schools game, and is leading some fantastic sessions.

Our club is open to all, and we welcome anyone to join us for a session, regardless of experience or ability. We currently field two senior teams:

1st XV
Our 1st XV play in the Kukri Ulster Rugby Championship. We aim to consolidate our place in senior rugby this season, and push ourselves on as far as we can go. If you’re an experienced player, or coming out of school and want to play senior 1st XV rugby, then come on down.

2nd XV
Our 2nd XV play at a lower level, Ulster Regional League East. We have a wide range of players, from the experienced veterans, exciting youth to those who are a bit more recent to the game. If you want to get back to the game, or give it a go for the first time, you’ll find a welcome home with our 2’s.

Both sides train together however. We have a strong, one club bond, and competitive training sessions to ensure everyone gets better. In addition we believe that relationships are also built off the field, and have a strong social side. Last season we had a trip to Ireland v Fiji in November, with over 50 club members travelling. This year we plan to do the same, and have a range of social activities planned.

Pre-season will continue throughout the summer, before competitive fixtures at the beginning of September. If you’d like to join us, or even get some more information, just drop us an email at info@csnirfc.co.uk
