Service started briskly enough only to concede an unfortunate try as the result of the home sides outhalf having a clearance kick charged down in the 22". The Malone centre won the foot race in the dead ball area to ground the ball.
Captain Lilburn left the field shortly after with a facial injury.
The wind of fortune lifted the visitors and dejected the home side. Malone scored a further 3 tries in the first half, all of which could have been prevented if defence had held firm.
Second half started in the same manner as the first, conceding an early score. For the next 15 minutes the home side competed gamely but had no reward for their effort. Malone broke the deadlock with what was to be the best score of the game, and followed with another 2 to win by the convincing margin of 50 points to nil.
Congratulations to the visitors on their victory, well deserved but somewhat assisted by our fragile defence. We got out of the match as much we put into it, not an awful lot, but confident it was a blip compared to recent performances and results.
