It was near enough perfect conditions for Civil Service's match at Holywood RFC with the sun out and clear sky above. Civil were looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat at home to BHSFP last week.

The game got underway with both sides having a fair share of possession in the opening five minutes. But it was the home side Holywood that looked the more threatening early on. Some nice offloading play from the home side put the Civil defence under pressure. And the pressure finally told ten minutes in, as Holywood's centre (12) picked and went from five metres out and crashed over for the opening try of the game. Conversion was made and it was 7-0 to the home side. Civil answered back with a good response of pressure and earned a penalty. But their line-out was picked off by Holywood. Holywood showed some nice wide play to send their winger up the pitch before being well tackled just outside the Civil 22. Holywood eventually moved the ball wide and Holywood centre (12) threw a dumby and ran through into the corner for his and Holywood's 2nd try of the game. Shortly after, more Holywood pressure resulted in another 3 points and it was 15-0 to the home side halfway through the first half. Civil collect their own restart and earned their first chance at points through a high tackle penalty which was slotted over from 35 metres out to make it 15-3.
Civil start to grow into the game a bit more with some good defence from a Holywood restart. From there, Civil pressure earns them a turnover inside the Holywood half but rushed play out wide gifts Holywood winger (11) an intercept try under the posts to extend the Holywood lead to 22-3. The final ten minutes of the first half were dominated by Civil possession but it unfortunately came to nothing with Holywood's defence disrupting their line-outs and rucks. The 2nd half kicks off with Holywood picking up right from where they left off. They earn a penalty in the Civil half and kick for the corner. A clever line-out play gives Holywood their 4th try of the game with their prop (3) sneaking in on the short side 27-3. More good Holywood play forces Civil into some strong defence as they stop a Holywood 5-metre line-out. Holywood continued to push for another try with a powerful, dominant scrum pushing Civil back but it was terrific defence as Civil recovered to hold up a potential 5th try for the home side. The pressure though eventually told on the Civil players and Holywood worked the ball out wide for a 2 on 1 and a lovely offload out the back of the hand sent the Holywood winger (11) in under the sticks for his 2nd try of the game. Conversion was good and it was 34-3 to Holywood.
The Holywood dominance continued as Civil struggled to keep the ball. Good phase play allowed Holywood to get 5-metres out and the flanker (6) powered through the Civil defence to make it 41-3. Civil showed great determination and some good phases of play to try and get a try on the board. But impressive Holywood defence was solid for 80 minutes and couldn't be broken. And as a result of some tired Civil bodies, Holywood spread the ball out the left as they broke through again and threw a great offload to send the other winger (14) in for a 7th try
